Remote · USA Full-time New today

Join arenaflex: Rewriting the Future of Healthcare Through Data, Analytics, and Intelligent Automation

Are you a passionate, analytically minded professional who thrives at the intersection of healthcare innovation, advanced data science, and large-scale problem solving? arenaflex is on a transformative mission to redefine how medical care is delivered, financed, and experienced, and we are looking for a highly skilled Remote Senior Data Scientist to join our dynamic Analytics and Behavior Change team. If you have ever wanted to apply your technical expertise in Python, R, and SQL to projects that genuinely improve human lives, this is your opportunity to make a measurable, lasting impact from the comfort of your own home.

At arenaflex, we believe that healthcare should be human-driven, intelligent, and accessible to everyone. As a Data Scientist on our Cost and Operations Analytics team, you will play a mission-critical role in designing, building, and deploying the analytical engines that drive efficiency, automation, and an enhanced provider experience across our entire claims ecosystem. This is not a routine data entry position — it is an opportunity to architect sophisticated models, develop novel algorithms, and partner with cross-functional leaders to deliver industry-leading research, analytics, and technology platforms that are reshaping the healthcare landscape.

What You Will Do: Key Responsibilities

  • Build and Operationalize Predictive Models: Design, develop, validate, and execute advanced algorithms, machine learning models, and statistical solutions that address complex operational questions, identify hidden patterns in large datasets, and recommend actionable strategies for business improvement.
  • Drive Efficiency Through Data Science: Implement scalable models, custom-built tools, and intelligent algorithms that elevate processes tied to claims operations, case workflows, and downstream settlements. Your work will directly reduce manual effort and accelerate turnaround times.
  • Identify and Quantify Optimization Opportunities: Proactively surface opportunities where analytics, automation, and smarter workflows can improve operational efficiency across claim settlement, claim adjustment, and provider-facing experiences.
  • Mine and Interpret Large, Multi-Source Datasets: Explore, examine, and interpret massive volumes of structured and unstructured data in a wide variety of formats. Transform raw signals into meaningful business insights that inform strategic decisions.
  • Apply Advanced Statistical Techniques: Leverage cutting-edge statistical methods, mathematical modeling, and exploratory data analysis to solve real-world business problems that have measurable financial and operational impact.
  • Engineer Modern Data Pipelines: Design and maintain robust data structures, ETL pipelines, and integration frameworks that consolidate, normalize, and operationalize data — producing trustworthy insights and powering reliable reporting across the organization.
  • Communicate Findings With Clarity: Use compelling data visualization techniques, dashboards, and storytelling to communicate analytical results, model outputs, and recommendations to stakeholders at every level of the business.
  • Own Data Quality and Governance: Evaluate the data needs of assigned projects from end to end, ensure the integrity and accuracy of all inputs, and recommend additional data sources where existing coverage can be improved.

What You Bring: Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of relevant professional experience in a data science, analytics, or research-oriented role, ideally supporting business operations or healthcare environments.
  • Strong hands-on programming experience in Python or R, with the ability to build, test, and deploy production-quality code.
  • Solid working knowledge of SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis across relational database systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex datasets, perform root-cause analyses, and translate findings into clear, business-ready recommendations.
  • Comfort working independently in a fully remote environment while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.

Preferred Qualifications That Will Set You Apart

  • Master's degree or higher in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Health Informatics.
  • Prior experience in the healthcare, insurance, or claims processing industry, with familiarity around provider networks, medical claims, or cost-of-care analytics.
  • Exposure to cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and experience working with big data tools like Spark, Hadoop, or Snowflake.
  • Experience with modern machine learning libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and a track record of deploying models into production environments.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, CPT, or HCPCS coding systems.
  • A genuine curiosity about behavioral change analytics and how data can drive better health outcomes for populations at scale.

Core Skills and Competencies for Success

To thrive as a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will need a balance of technical depth, business acumen, and interpersonal finesse. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

  • Analytical Rigor: A scientific mindset grounded in hypothesis testing, experimental design, and disciplined statistical reasoning.
  • Problem-Solving Agility: The ability to break down ambiguous, large-scale business problems into well-defined analytical workstreams.
  • Technical Versatility: Fluency across programming languages, database systems, visualization tools, and modern ML frameworks.
  • Storytelling With Data: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into narratives that resonate with executive audiences.
  • Collaboration: A natural ability to partner with engineers, product managers, clinicians, operations leaders, and senior executives.
  • Curiosity and Continuous Learning: A passion for staying current with emerging tools, techniques, and research in data science and machine learning.
