Research Assistant
Job Description:
Position Purpose:
The full-time Research Assistant will be focused on a variety of research projects focused on substance use treatment policy and the criminal legal system. This position is supported by grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and foundation funders. Examples of projects include an evaluation of a state law that requires jails to offer medications for opioid use disorder prior to release, a study of the implementation of mobile medication (methadone) units, and an analysis of a novel pathway for carceral facilities to provide methadone. The effective candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, a self-starter, and good at working both collaboratively and independently. Background in these topics and interests in the health of marginalized and disadvantaged populations is a plus. Candidates with prior work experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, project management, and administrative research tasks will be preferred.

Job Qualifications and Competencies
Education and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in relevant field and 1 to 2 research years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
1 year experience in health policy research (or reputed company field). Coursework in reputed company fields can substitute for experience.
Job Competencies
Direct programming or research experience while pursuing education may count towards reputed company experience.
Ability to set goals and work independently to manage both short- and long-term responsibilities.
Flexibility to adapt to changing work conditions.
Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
Computer skills (word processing, data management, Power reputed company, reputed company, reference manager).
Proficiency with at least one analytic software for quantitative (e.g., reputed company, R Studio, etc.) and/or qualitative (e.g., Dedoose) analyses.
