Design Studio Manager

Remote · USA Full-time New today
Scale a Design Culture that Powers the Future of Financial Access Across Southeast Asia

At BJAK, we believe design is not just about aesthetics — it’s about clarity, usability, and creating intuitive experiences that make financial services radically more inclusive. We’re looking for a Design Studio Manager to lead our fast-growing design team and champion world-class design execution across products used by millions in Southeast Asia.

This hybrid role is based in Malaysia. You’ll report to the Head of Product and work cross-functionally with product, engineering, marketing, and leadership to scale design processes, build team rituals, and drive both creative excellence and strategic design thinking.

Why This Role Matters
  • You’ll lead and scale a high-performing design team across multiple disciplines (UX, UI, product design, visual).

  • You’ll ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency in design output across product lines.

  • You’ll shape the design roadmap and elevate our product experiences through strong creative leadership.

  • You’ll build systems, rituals, and standards that enable designers to do their best work.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage and mentor a growing team of designers across disciplines and seniority levels.

  • Oversee the end-to-end design process: from research and ideation to delivery and handoff.

  • Develop and maintain our design system, toolkits, and brand-aligned UI/UX standards.

  • Partner with Product, Tech, and Marketing to ensure a cohesive, user-centered experience across all touchpoints.

  • Set design KPIs and regularly review design quality, efficiency, and impact.

  • Build hiring processes and participate in talent evaluation for design roles.

  • Foster a strong design culture of critique, collaboration, and experimentation.

You’ll Thrive Here If You...
  • Are passionate about building processes and teams, not just products.

  • Can confidently switch between high-level strategy and design ops details.

  • Know how to bring out the best in others and are comfortable giving and receiving feedback.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, execution-focused startup environment.

  • Care deeply about consistency, scalability, and user outcomes over trends.

Requirements
  • 6+ years of design experience, with 2+ years in a design leadership or management role.

  • Strong portfolio showing product design and team management experience.

  • Deep understanding of modern UI/UX practices, tools, and systems.

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams across multiple concurrent projects.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder alignment skills.

  • Based in Malaysia and open to hybrid work from our HQ in Petaling Jaya.

Our Team & Culture
