[Remote] Project Manager- Water/Wastewater- West Coast

Salas O’Brien is an employee-owned engineering and professional services firm focused on achieving impact for their clients and the world. They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support their water and wastewater engineering practice, responsible for leading the planning, design, and execution of infrastructure projects while managing client relationships and mentoring team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities, and treatment systems
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and at high quality standards
  • Oversee and coordinate project teams, including engineers, CAD designers, and subconsultants
  • Helpful but not required to maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts, including pursuing and winning new work
  • Provide technical leadership and apply engineering expertise across water and wastewater system planning, funding, design and operations
  • Mentor and develop junior staff through coaching, training, and performance feedback
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise technical documentation and presentations
  • Support team growth through collaboration, recruiting, and knowledge sharing

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering
  • Proven experience managing projects, teams, schedules, and budgets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver successful client outcomes
  • Experience with pump station and water/wastewater treatment design
  • Established client relationships and local market presence
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client growth
  • Experience mentoring and developing early-career professionals
