Associate, Capital Markets
Scout Clean Energy is focused on capital raising activities for their portfolio of utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects. The Capital Markets Associate will support project finance, corporate finance, and capital recycling transactions while engaging with capital providers and managing transactions.
Responsibilities
- Support transactions across the investment lifecycle - from origination to financial modeling, board approvals, due diligence, definitive documentation, and deal closing
- Draft compelling transaction marketing materials for distribution to prospective lenders and investors
- Analyze term sheets and proposals to support recommendations for optimal financing structures to senior management
- Maintain transaction models for debt, tax equity, and other equity processes
- Support transaction due diligence and interface with external financing parties and consultants
- Collaborate with our Development, Commercial, EPC, and Asset Management teams to collect, organize, and manage transaction deliverables in external data rooms
- Develop and manage relationships with external counsel, advisors, and providers of debt, tax equity, and equity capital to optimize our project financings
- Complete other duties as assigned
Skills
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics or a related field
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in renewables investment banking and/or the renewable energy industry, with a focus on modeling tax equity and debt structures
- Experience supporting renewables capital markets transactions (tax equity, project debt, corporate debt, M&A)
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (including VBA), Word, and PowerPoint
- Independent learner who can quickly apply lessons learned in one area to all other work areas
- Self-motivator with exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and deliver top-quality work product in multiple areas without direct supervision
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- High emotional IQ - strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Experience in utility-scale renewable energy finance (> 80 MW per project) is preferred
- Strong communication, project management and team-building skills experience working with cross-functional internal and external technical advisors and stakeholders
- Ability to multi-task and arbitrate between conflicting priorities with clear target setting and follow-through capability in a fast-paced work environment
