As a remote‑first organization, arenaflex offers flexible work arrangements, a supportive community of technical experts, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the health of millions of people.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s rapidly evolving health‑care landscape, accurate and timely data is the lifeblood of quality improvement programs. The Senior Data Analytics Engineer you will become is a pivotal member of the arenaflex Health Services Quality Improvement team, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data foundations that power reporting, analytics, and decision‑making across the organization. Your work will directly influence how clinicians, administrators, and policy makers understand performance trends, identify gaps, and implement evidence‑based interventions that improve patient safety and care efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Architecture: Design, develop, and operationalize multi‑layered data warehouses and pipelines that ingest, transform, and store large volumes of health‑care data from internal arenaflex production systems and external sources.
  • ETL/ELT Development: Write, optimize, and maintain robust SQL‑based ETL/ELT scripts, ensuring data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Data Modeling & Staging: Create logical and physical data models, develop staging tables, and implement best‑practice data‑profiling techniques to support downstream analytics and reporting.
  • Collaboration with Cross‑Functional Teams: Partner with data scientists, BI engineers, product owners, and business analysts to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Automation & Governance: Build automated workflows for data validation, quality assurance, and lineage tracking; enforce data governance policies across the data lifecycle.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization: Conduct regular performance assessments, index tuning, and query optimization to ensure high‑throughput data processing.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear technical documentation, data dictionaries, and runbooks; mentor junior team members and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
  • Travel & Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in occasional onsite meetings (up to 5% travel) to gather requirements, present findings, and strengthen relationships with internal partners and external vendors.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience developing and maintaining SQL‑based ETL/ELT processes in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deploy isolated data environments using platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Azure Data Factory.
  • Proficiency in data‑visualization and BI tooling (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) with a track record of delivering actionable insights to business stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience working on data‑centric projects within a regulated industry, preferably health‑care, pharmacy, or related domains.
  • Ability to lead projects independently, manage timelines, and coordinate cross‑functional teams without direct supervision.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5 % of the time for business purposes, including occasional on‑site visits to arenaflex offices or partner locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of pharmacy, health‑care, and clinical research concepts such as HEDIS, ECDS, claims processing, and medication adherence metrics.
  • Experience with cloud‑based data platforms (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery) and containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with programming languages beyond SQL, such as Python or Scala, for advanced data transformation and machine‑learning pipelines.
  • Certifications in data engineering, cloud architecture, or health‑care informatics (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Certified Health Data Analyst).
  • Prior involvement in large‑scale data migration or integration projects involving multiple source systems and legacy data stores.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex data problems, identify root causes, and propose elegant technical solutions.
  • Detail Orientation: Commitment to data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of working effectively within multidisciplinary teams, fostering trust and shared ownership.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating a fast‑paced environment, embracing new tools, and iterating on solutions based on feedback.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills, capable of juggling multiple priorities while delivering on time and within scope.
  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Focus on delivering value to internal and external stakeholders, translating technical work into business impact.
