The Global Principal Procurement Engineer is responsible for leading cost optimization initiatives across the Direct Sourcing portfolio. This role plays a key part in driving value through advanced cost engineering techniques such as target costing, should-cost modeling, and value engineering, while ensuring supplier quality, delivery, and innovation. It combines deep technical knowledge with strong commercial acumen and a passion for continuous (cost) improvement. This position reports to the Director Global Direct Sourcing and is part of the Global Commodity Team and will be an on-site role in Singapore, China or Malaysia (possibly also remote). In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Lead and execute cost reduction and value improvement projects across Direct Commodities in alignment with Commodity Managers. Develop and apply target costing strategies in collaboration with R&D and Product Management. Conduct cost breakdown analyses and challenge supplier pricing based on manufacturing processes and market benchmarks. Benchmark global suppliers in alignment with Commodity Managers, identify the best cost sourcing opportunities and support, drive and lead complex negotiations with suppliers to achieve optimal commercial outcomes. Support early supplier involvement in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects to ensure cost-effective design decisions in alignment with the Project Procurement Managers. The essential requirements of the job include Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain Management. 8+ years of experience in procurement engineering, cost engineering, or strategic sourcing. Familiarity with Advanced Cost Management Tools, such as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Design-to-Cost (DtC), Clean Sheet Costing, Activity-Based Costing (ABC), etc. Proven track record in complex price and contract negotiations. Fluent in English (negotiation level) Travel requirements: Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (approximately 30 to 40%). It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: High-mix low-volume (HMLV) manufacturing processes SAP, e-procurement tools, and Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI.
