Working remotely from anywhere in the United States (with a focus on Indiana), you will play a pivotal role in constructing and maintaining large‑scale data pipelines that power analytics, reporting, and machine‑learning solutions across the enterprise. This full‑time position offers a competitive hourly rate of $28 and a supportive environment where you can grow your technical expertise while contributing to real‑world business impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and operate ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes that ingest data from diverse sources into arenaflex’s data lake and warehouse.
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using modern cloud technologies, ensuring they are repeatable, reliable, and secure.
  • Collaborate closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Implement data models and schemas that support efficient querying, reporting, and downstream analytics.
  • Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot data quality issues, and proactively resolve bottlenecks.
  • Enforce data governance standards, including data lineage, metadata management, and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Document architecture, processes, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing across the data engineering community.
  • Participate in code reviews, agile ceremonies, and continuous improvement initiatives to elevate the overall maturity of arenaflex’s data platform.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience with data engineering concepts, including building data pipelines and working with relational databases.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external partners, maintaining strong relationships to ensure data quality and alignment with business objectives.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for on‑site meetings, training sessions, or collaborative workshops.

Preferred Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a quantitative discipline or specialized field.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs to expose data services to downstream applications.
  • Familiarity with the Azure ecosystem, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks (Python or Scala), Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Event Hubs, Event Grid, and Logic Apps.
  • Hands‑on experience building Azure DevOps pipelines for CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and modern data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect).
  • Understanding of data security best practices, encryption, and compliance frameworks such as GDPR and HIPAA.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical mindset: Ability to dissect complex data sets, spot trends, and propose actionable insights.
  • Problem‑solving orientation: Proactive in identifying issues, troubleshooting root causes, and delivering sustainable solutions.
  • Communication excellence: Clear articulation of technical concepts to non‑technical audiences and effective documentation skills.
  • Team collaboration: Comfortable working in cross‑functional teams, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a culture of continuous learning.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment where priorities shift based on business needs.
  • Attention to detail: Commitment to data integrity, accuracy, and adherence to governance standards.
