What you'll do Viasat is seeking a Systems Engineer for Verification and Validation efforts in support of our work as a prime contractor on a DoD SATCOM program. The ideal candidate will be someone who can collaboratively develop system verification strategies spanning the end-to-end SATCOM architecture, including the space segment, ground segment, and network interfaces. We are looking for a highly engaging, team-oriented and self-starting individual who can communicate and collaborate across multi-disciplinary engineering boundaries in a dynamic program environment. The day-to-day Develop a comprehensive V&V strategy for end-to-end SATCOM systems, including space, ground, and network segments Engage with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and stakeholders to ensure alignment Manage system requirements to ensure clarity, traceability, and verifiability Decompose system requirements to ensure bi-directional traceability to verification events and artifacts Develop and maintain Requirement Verification Compliance Matrices (RVCMs) and Requirement Verification Traceability Matrices (RVTMs) and related work products Develop and deliver technical documentation and customer presentations supporting verification activities Present V&V strategy, status, and results at technical and program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.) What you'll need Bachelor of Science degree in Systems, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related field or equivalent years of related work experience. 5+ years’ experience supporting systems engineering efforts on commercial, Civil, or DoD programs 2+ years supporting space programs Demonstrated experience with requirements management, decomposition, and verification planning Experience with satellite and ground station development, integration, and test lifecycles Experience working on systems engineering projects involving multiple systems engineering teams Strong communication and presentation skills, including customer-facing experience Strong organizational, time management, and project execution skills Proficiency with requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama, etc.) Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a security clearance Able to travel approx. 10% of the time What will help you on the job Experience leading or owning system-level V&V across multiple segments (space, ground, network) Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams in complex systems engineering across the product development lifecycle Experience with technical presentations and customer-facing activities Experience with MBSE tools and methodologies (SysML, Cameo, etc.) Experience with system analysis and modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, STK) Salary range $120,500.00 - $190,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $149,500.00- $224,500.00/ annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
