The Machine Learning and Inference Research team is a dedicated research team building up Netflix's technical capabilities by tackling fundamental research questions tied to our most important challenges and partnering closely with teams across the business to translate research into impact at scale. As a member of the team, you will leverage your technical expertise to help shape roadmaps, collaborate across functions, and bring new ideas from exploration to impact. You will also engage actively with the broader research community by publishing at relevant venues, presenting at conferences, mentoring interns, and fostering academic collaborations. We are seeking a skilled Researcher who can contribute to and execute a strong research agenda with both internal and external impact, disseminate knowledge effectively, collaborate with colleagues to deliver tangible business value, and help foster an open environment of innovation, intellectual rigor, and curiosity. We are looking in all areas of machine learning, reinforcement learning, artificial intelligence, causal inference, optimization, statistics, economics, and operations research. What you bring Ph.D. in a relevant area, with some post-Ph.D. experience (3+ years) in industry and/or academia. Experience in applying research (especially yours) to transform real-world problems in collaboration with engineering and business teams. Solid research experience, in industry and/or academia, including as evidenced in peer-reviewed publications. Demonstrated technical expertise and a track record of driving impact. Effective at working with stakeholders for collaboration, guidance, problem-solving, and decision-making. Strong judgment in identifying and framing ambiguous research and business problems and the links between the two. Passion for collaboration and building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to tackle cross-functional problems. Strong communication with technical, non-technical, and mixed audiences. Self-motivated with an ability to thrive and to lead your own projects with minimal oversight and process. Shares knowledge and guides thought on the adoption of new methods. Actively mentors others, such as interns or junior peers. Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $466,000.00 - $750,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
