Math Subject Matter Expert, gt.school (Remote) - $100,000/year USD

Remote · USA Full-time New today

You're a middle-school mathematics specialist with a sharp eye for detail—someone who can spot an incorrect fraction from across the room. You've worked directly with students in grades 4–8 through teaching or tutoring (or developed equivalent expertise and insight), you craft feedback that learners can put into practice immediately, and you refuse to let imprecise work become part of what students are taught. We're developing an AI-driven mathematics content platform that delivers questions, instructional articles, and video lessons at scale, but we reject the notion that volume is valuable if the underlying math contains errors or the teaching lacks clarity. The field is fixated on "produce more." Our focus is "deliver excellence." Your role serves as the human checkpoint that prevents thousands of learners from absorbing an AI's overconfident errors, unclear explanations, or subtly compromised academic standards. This position centers on meticulous quality control of AI-produced middle school mathematics material: verifying correctness, reasoning, developmental appropriateness, and instructional quality; identifying conceptual pitfalls, vague language, and faulty logic; and delivering precise, organized feedback that enables another team to resolve issues efficiently. This is detail-oriented work demanding high standards, keen observation, and absolute intolerance for mathematically flawed or pedagogically damaging content entering the pipeline. You'll function as the final checkpoint in the content workflow before publication, evaluating material provided through spreadsheets or a dedicated internal tool and converting your professional judgment into concrete issue documentation. If you can work efficiently without sacrificing accuracy, flag problems without excessive elaboration, and prioritize student understanding over deference to automated systems, this role is for you.

  • What You Will Be Doing
  • Evaluating AI-produced mathematics questions, instructional articles, and video content to detect problems related to mathematical correctness, academic standards, pedagogical effectiveness, and developmental suitability, and delivering structured, actionable feedback that allows another team to remediate the material before students encounter it.
  • Math Subject Matter Expert Key Responsibilities
  • Verify that AI-generated mathematics instructional content undergoes thorough quality validation for mathematical correctness, academic integrity, and pedagogical effectiveness.
  • Basic Requirements
  • You hold a university degree in Math Education (not solely Mathematics)
  • You possess at least 4 years of experience teaching, tutoring, or developing EdTech curriculum with a focus on mathematics for grades 4–8
  • You are currently located in the US
