HRIS Operations Specialist

Remote · USA Full-time New today

About Us: TechServe Alliance is the national trade association for the IT and Engineering staffing industry, and its wholly owned subsidiary, TechServe 360, provides an integrated suite of payroll, HR, benefits, compliance, and insurance services purpose-built for IT and Engineering staffing firms. We operate at the intersection of a national trade association and a specialized back-office services platform, giving us deep industry expertise, strong relationships, and a client base that depends on true workforce specialization. Our team is small, focused, and high-impact, where attention to detail and ownership directly shape client success. Job Summary: As our Benefits & HR Operations Specialist, you will serve as the operational backbone of our client service model. You will manage benefits administration and HR processing across multiple client accounts, ensuring accurate onboarding, enrollments, and compliance across W-2 contractors, consultants, and client employees in multiple states. This is a fast-paced, detail-heavy role where you will move between accounts, manage HRIS workflows, respond to real-time requests, and coordinate closely with payroll to ensure deadlines are met without delays. Responsibilities:

Benefits

Administration

  • Administer health, dental, vision, life/disability, and 401(k) benefits across a diverse workforce — W-2 contractors, consultants, and internal client staff.
  • Manage open enrollment, new hire enrollments, and qualifying life events end-to-end.
  • Handle benefits inquiries and issue resolution efficiently, serving as the primary liaison between clients, employees, and our benefits broker.
  • Support COBRA administration, carrier communications, and termination processing.
  • Generate ACA tracking reports and maintain enrollment accuracy for compliance purposes.

HR Operations & Onboarding

  • Process new hire onboarding, status changes, and terminations within the HRIS system and across benefit carriers — accurately and on time.
  • Manage I-9 verification, E-Verify, and client-specific onboarding documentation requirements.
  • Assist with background check coordination and maintain HR records for time-sensitive placements and contract dates.
  • Support timekeeping, payroll deductions, garnishments, and timesheet approval workflows.
  • Maintain client- and employee-facing documentation: benefits summaries, onboarding guides, HR forms, and user guides.

Compliance & Multi-State Operations

  • Ensure compliance with multi-state employment law including wage notices, paid sick leave mandates, and required labor postings.
  • Track and implement legislative changes affecting payroll and HR across Federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
  • Stay current with HRIS quarterly releases; create SOPs using our AI-powered documentation tool (Tango) when new features roll out.

Client & Employee Support

  • Field inbound inquiries from clients and worksite employees on benefits, pay, system access, and HR matters — and route or escalate appropriately.
  • Support client implementation: benefit plan setup, enrollment configuration, and onboarding workflow rollout.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that make onboarding faster and HR delivery more scalable across our client base.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years in benefits administration and HR operations — staffing, consulting, ASO, or PEO experience strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms and benefits enrollment systems; comfort learning new tools quickly.
  • Working knowledge of multi-state employment compliance: wage notices, paid sick leave, ACA, COBRA, I-9/E-Verify.
  • Organized and deadline-driven — managing multiple clients and competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable dealing directly with client contacts and employees.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field — or equivalent experience. SHRM certification a plus.

#NOTGA Pay: $60,000.02 - $65,000.02 per year Benefits:

  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Vision insurance

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Benefits administration: 2 years (Preferred)
