About the Role

The oldest and largest independent, employee-owned publishing house in the United States is hiring a Sales and Market Development Specialist to join its College Marketing team, covering the social sciences across roughly a quarter of the country in the Southeast. About 30% travel is required, with more during peak adoption periods. A strong fit for an enthusiastic, competitive salesperson who loves books and educational products, has strong presentation skills, and enjoys the combination of strategic selling, coaching colleagues, and building faculty relationships. • Investigating new course markets, conducting prepublication selling and research, and providing messaging feedback on first editions and key revisions
  • Creating and co-owning target lists for prepublication and front list titles
  • Participating in regular calls and meetings with marketing managers, specialists, and editors to analyze messaging, sales results, and pipeline progress
  • Managing the January sales conference presentation, including outline, materials, and logistics
  • Creating sales tools to support marketing to college instructors and training for sales representatives
  • Participating in new sales representative training programs
