Job Title: Software Engineer – Java Backend DevOps Location: Sacramento, CA (Remote) Duration: 12 Months Experience: 10+ Years Pay Rate: $50–55/hr (W2) OR $60–65/hr (Flexible) About the Role: We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java backend development and hands-on DevOps. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in cloud-native architecture, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure automation, along with solid backend engineering fundamentals. You will play a key role in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, high-performance applications in cloud environments. Mandatory Skills:

• Cloud Platforms: GCP / Azure
• Backend: Java, Spring Boot
• Frontend (basic exposure): Angular
• RESTful APIs & Microservices Architecture
• CI/CD Pipelines
• Relational and/or NoSQL Databases

Good to Have

• Pub/Sub systems
• Kafka

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java
• Build RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot
• Write secure, high-performance, and reusable code
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines
• Deploy, monitor, and manage applications on GCP/Azure/AWS
• Containerize applications using Docker and manage via Kubernetes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, DevOps, Product)
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure system reliability
• Optimize application performance and scalability

Required Technical Skills: Backend Development

• Strong experience with Java (8/11/17+)
• Expertise in Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security
• Hands-on experience with Microservices Architecture
• Strong knowledge of REST API design
• Experience with Hibernate / JPA
• Messaging systems (Kafka / RabbitMQ)
• Testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito)

Cloud & DevOps

• Experience with GCP / AWS / Azure
• Docker & Kubernetes
• CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform / CloudFormation
• Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack
• Understanding of DevOps & SRE practices

Database

• Relational: MySQL, PostgreSQL
• NoSQL: MongoDB, DynamoDB
• Performance tuning & query optimization

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with event-driven architecture
• Exposure to distributed systems design
• Security knowledge (OAuth2, JWT)
• Experience with caching (Redis)
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum
• Cloud certifications (AWS / Azure / GCP) are a plus

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership
• Mentoring experience is a plus
