Oracle Cloud DBA
Oracle Cloud DBA Remote Contract Comments:
- This person needs to have been working as an Oracle Cloud DBA working with Oracle 19c for at least the last 2 years.
- They also will need to have ExadataCS experience. Disaster Recovery understanding is also key. There's a lot on the job description, but those items I just called out are key.
- This person will spend 50% of the doing application DBA support in the cloud and 50% of the time mentoring, training, and teaching 12 onshore and 5 offshore DBA's.
- Assist in Cloud Strategy, deploying and migration of applications and services to the Oracle Cloud using PaaS, IaaS, and serverless solutions.
- Build, deploy, and maintain multi-tier architectures: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, and networking in an Oracle Cloud environment.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code for the deployment and management of infrastructure.
- Perform as a subject matter expert (SME) on Oracle cloud technologies and services and provide operational support and troubleshooting on the most complex issues.
- Assist in maintaining the services needed to bridge cloud and on-prem architecture.
- Manage and operate scalable, highly available fault tolerant systems and develop and maintain solutions for operational administration, system/data backup, disaster recovery, and security/performance monitoring of our cloud-based systems.
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
- Create and maintain design documents, troubleshooting guides, and operational maintenance procedures.
- Install/Configure/Design/Tune cloud databases for the IBM MAXIMO MAS8 application in the Oracle cloud (with HA and DR requirements).
- Introduce best practices into the company's solutions while adhering to company's compliance standards.
- Train existing staff on cloud technology
DESIRED SKILLS
- Experience setting up and using ExaCS technology in cloud computing
- Experience maintaining ExaCS technology
- Ability to create & present training material for 12 other non-cloud DBAs
- Ability to drive cloud standards creation process for the company.
- Experience migrating data from customer on premise databases to ExaCS.
- Experience backing up and recovering cloud databases
- Experience configuring DR sites using ExaCS technology
- Experience executing failovers from primary ORACLE cloud site to alternate sites
- Experience with oracle 19EE cloud database version
- Experience creating CDBs and PDBs in ExaCS
- Experience cloning/moving CDBs and PDBs in ExaCS
- Experience setting up processes to refresh cloud databases
- Experience troubleshooting performance problems of cloud databases
BONUS SKILLS
- Experience with TDE option, wallets, and keys
- Experience with on premise EXADATA x9m and x10m databases.
- Experience patching ExaCS technology.
- ORACLE ADW database experience
- OEM in cloud experience
- OUD in cloud experience
- IBM MAXIMO:MAS 8/9 database support experience
SOFT SKILLS
- Ability to manage time, milestone tasks and deadlines effectively
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information to fellow DBAs and to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate with fellow DBAs, Developers, and Cloud Administrators.
- Ability to train fellow DBAs on cloud technology.
