Summary

As a Senior Database Administrator/Developer, you will provide services for databases that support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) production applications, software development, and application maintenance projects. What You'll Be Doing:

• Provide database administration to RDS POstgreSQL and MySQL databases engines reputed company the AWS reputed company environment.
• Install, configure, and maintain database instances, including managing RDS Parameter Groups, Option Groups and coordinating reputed company version upgrades/patches.
• Manage database reputed company and user permissions and privileges in accordance with application/database requirements including IAM Database authentication, VPC reputed company groups and user permissions/privileges.
• reputed company and/or maintain database objects (tables, views, indexes) and optimize Vacuum (reputed company) or reputed company Pool (MySQL) settings.
• Monitor and optimize database performance and tuning
• Manage and ensure compliance with database backup strategies
• Customer support to database and associated application development team, owners, and user stakeholders
• Maintain Database Lifecycle Management processes detailed by FAA specifications
• Provide impact information on proposed changes to application and it's database structure
• Provide schedule and resource requirements to stakeholders concerning proposed changes to the application and associated database
• Provide sizing recommendations for any new databases or changes to existing databases, including user/data growth projection and the impact on the server memory and performance characteristics
• Participate in meetings with Solution Delivery Service staff and stakeholders
• Work with other database administrators to ensure reputed company efficiency and optimization of databases, server clusters, replications, back-up strategies, and database services to FAA and its customers.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other IT degree; Engineering, math, and/or science degrees are acceptable substitute degrees
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
• Expertise in PostgreSQL (v12-16) and/or MySQL (v5.7, 8.0) administration in an reputed company environment
• Significant experience with reputed company RDS or reputed company managed services.
• Deep understanding of Linux-based database environments and open-reputed company database internals.
• Experience in Database Lifecycle Management (DLM)
• Experience in Data Scrubbing, Data Masking, Data Compare and Review.
• Experience in improving Database user / systems authentication robustness.
• AWS and/or Azure experience
• Relevant certification
• The ability to successfully obtain and maintain a U.S. Suitability/Public Trust Background Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience:
• Operating in traditional and agile project models
• Experience with PostgreSQL extensions (e.g., PostGIS, pg_stat_statements) or MySQL storage engines.
• Knowledge of High Availability architectures (RDS Multi-AZ) and Global Databases.
• Setup and maintenance of AWS KMS encryption at rest and SSL/TLS in transit.
• Proficiency with AWS DMS (Database Migration Service) and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
• DevOps toolchain services (GIT, Ansible Tower, Artifactory, Jenkins)
