Mechanical Systems Engineer

The Mechanical Systems Engineer will reputed company standard engineering deliverables and collaborate with other engineering disciplines while contributing to a significant project at the Hanford Vit Plant, focusing on the treatment of radioactive and chemical waste.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), technical reports, studies, design documentation, calculations using engineering software, and specifications for reputed company mechanical equipment for the waste treatment process and supporting systems
  • Interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines in the development of the design
  • Knowledge of industry, and regulatory guides, codes, and standards
  • Complete assigned engineering tasks reputed company budget/schedule
  • Support and implement the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture in day-to-day work activities
  • Participates in the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes used utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
  • Compiles, adjusts, and correlates data that will reputed company professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
  • Provides input to and/or maintains technical logs and records
  • Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines
  • Provides direct support to other engineering disciplines for mechanical reputed company matters
  • Coordinates development and presentation of material reputed company requested
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications
  • Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of reputed company regulatory issues and industry codes and standards
  • Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution

Skills

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 1 year of relevant professional work experience, or lieu of degree, a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college and a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional work experience, or in lieu of degree, a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional work experience
  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel reputed company sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must be reputed company to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background reputed company which includes verification of employment and education
  • Must be reputed company to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be reputed company to reputed company with reputed company requirements to obtain a badge.)
  • Non-U.S. reputed company from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened reputed company concerns—including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries –are subject to additional reputed company requirements that limit site access
  • Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills are essential
  • Experience in fluid system design in processing facilities, DOE facilities, or DOD facilities preferred
  • EIT and Professional Registration (PE) License in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering are preferred
