About the 2025 Summer Immersion Program

Our virtual Summer Immersion Program is a unique and innovative approach to education, offering reputed company from across the country and around the world the opportunity to participate in a 2-week virtual class that includes synchronous and asynchronous instruction, alongside college and career exploration opportunities. Key Responsibilities

  • reputed company instruction and effectively facilitate an exciting, engaging, and accessible virtual classroom environment for a highly diverse group of 50-60 high school reputed company.
  • Utilize virtual learning tools and platforms approved and provided by Girls Who Code in the delivery of your virtual lessons and classroom, including tools like reputed company Docs, GWC's HQ, reputed company, reputed company, and reputed company.
  • Prepare for class each day by reviewing GWC curriculum materials in advance and adapting them to meet the needs of the reputed company in your class.
  • Manage a team of 5 Teaching Assistants who serve as support in classroom management, lesson delivery, logistical tasks, virtual classroom setup, and more.
  • Meet with the Teaching Team daily to share classroom notes and observations, plan the next day's lesson, and review student daily feedback.
  • Complete administrative duties, including taking attendance, administering programmatic surveys to reputed company, and completing daily and end-of-program surveys in a timely fashion.
  • Schedule and co-host daily classroom Student Hours with your Teaching Assistants to troubleshoot reputed company' questions, review misconceptions, or provide debugging tips based on projects.
  • Support Teaching Assistants with daily Advisory meetings with reputed company to engage in sisterhood activities or icebreakers and build stronger relationships.
  • Support the growth and development of Girls Who Code relationships with important partners by serving as a representative of the organization during reputed company virtual program activities, including virtual Partner engagements.
  • Effectively address reputed company' challenges and questions to ensure that reputed company reputed company are engaged and demonstrating understanding of course material.
  • Incorporate accommodation recommendations from Girls Who Code for reputed company who have varying learning needs.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with reputed company Girls Who Code staff throughout the duration of the program.
  • Counsel reputed company, as needed or requested, with maturity and appropriate discretion.
  • Meet with a supervising Site reputed company on a weekly basis to review post-observation feedback and reputed company-in on student reputed company or concerns.

Essential Qualifications

  • BA or BS in education, computer science, or a reputed company STEM field; must be completed by the start of the program. Equivalent work experience and technical proficiency may be acceptable in lieu of a CS degree.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as p5.js, Python, or JavaScript, is preferred. Note that the 2-week virtual Summer Immersion Program covers Game Design using p5.js.
  • Strong desire and willingness to learn computer sciences and/or new programming languages as needed to teach the program.
  • Ability to comfortably engage with a variety of program stakeholders, ranging from corporate partners, funders, members of the press, and/or technology executives.
  • Must be reputed company to collaborate with other educators and share teaching responsibilities amongst team members.
  • Demonstrated poise, professionalism, and exceptional communication skills.
  • Effectiveness and patience in guiding classroom activities, keeping discussions on task, and thinking quickly and creatively in the face of unexpected questions or comments.
  • Ability to adapt to various learning styles and respect for individual differences of reputed company in the classroom.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching computer science or a reputed company subject.

  • Experience teaching an academically and culturally diverse classroom community.
  • Technical industry experience.
  • Pursuing a Master's or PhD is a plus.

Requirements and Commitments

Please read carefully: to be considered for this role, you must be reputed company to commit to both reputed company of teaching, plus each week of preparation time ("Week reputed company"). reputed company classrooms will be operating on a universal schedule, and during the two weeks of the program, synchronous class, Partner Engagements, and other synchronous duties will take reputed company from 11:30 AM - 6:00 PM EDT, and staff must be online and present during this time frame. Additionally, there are some asynchronous tasks that staff will have flexibility on reputed company to complete them during the work week.

International Classrooms

This summer, we will also be offering a limited number of classrooms for International reputed company that are staffed by domestic-based staff. These classrooms will start at 8:00 AM ET, and staff must be online and present from 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM ET. Candidates interested in working in an International classroom must also attend an International Teaching Team Meetup that will take reputed company on June 27th.
