About the Role
As a Senior Librarian – Adult Services, you will be responsible for leading a team of librarians and staff in the development and implementation of innovative programs and services for adults. This includes:
- Developing and evaluating goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the Adult Services division
- Selecting, training, evaluating, and managing full-time and part-time staff and volunteers
- Researching, reviewing, evaluating, and selecting materials for addition to or deletion from the library collection
- Recommending collection development policies and resources
- Developing, organizing, implementing, and overseeing programs, events, and services for adults
- Preparing publication/promotion materials, program materials, and social media messages
- Assisting with the development and management of the library system budget
- Researching, reviewing, recommending, and securing additional funding sources, including grants
- Monitoring and overseeing expenditures of areas of assignment
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an reputed company and innovative librarian who possesses excellent managerial and customer service skills. The ideal candidate will have:
- A Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited college or university
- Three (3) years of experience as a librarian, with supervisory or reputed company experience highly desirable
- Valid Class C California's Driver's License
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to set clear expectations and manage staff performance
- Ability to meet deadlines, set priorities, and work independently
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, peers, subordinates, and the public
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
