The Role of an Area Manager

As an Area Manager with Amazon's WW Operations network, you will play a critical role in leading a team of hourly workforce and driving business results. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting, mentoring, and motivating your hourly workforce: You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage and motivate your team, driving high levels of safety, quality, attendance, and performance.
  • Managing safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises: You will work closely with support teams to develop plans to meet business objectives, ensuring that our customers receive their orders on time and to their satisfaction.
  • Collaborating with support teams: You will work closely with Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources to develop plans to meet business objectives.
  • Lifting up to 49 pounds and frequently pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching: You will be required to lift and move packages and equipment as needed.
  • Standing/walking for up to 12 hours during shifts: You will be required to stand and walk for extended periods during your shifts.
  • Working in a loud environment: You will be working in an environment where the noise level varies and can be loud.
  • Working in a variable temperature environment: You will be working in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Continuously climbing and descending stairs: You will be required to climb and descend stairs as needed (applicable to sites with stairs).

Essential Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in a leadership or management role: You will need to have 1-2 years of experience in a leadership or management role, preferably in a customer-facing or logistics environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage your team.
  • Ability to lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach: You will need to be able to lift and move packages and equipment as needed.
  • Ability to stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts: You will need to be able to stand and walk for extended periods during your shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or higher: A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as business, logistics, or operations management is preferred.

  • 2-5 years of experience in a leadership or management role: 2-5 years of experience in a leadership or management role, preferably in a customer-facing or logistics environment, is preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment: Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is preferred.
  • Certifications in leadership or management: Certifications in leadership or management, such as Six Sigma or Lean, are preferred.
